The village of Bishops Lydeard provides a range of local amenities including several shops, public house, church, doctor's surgery and a pharmacy. It is also home to the West Somerset Steam Railway. The County Town of Taunton provides a range of facilities consistent with a town of this size.
The Cypresses is located at the edge of The Quantock Hills which provide convenient access for walking and cycling and there is also a number of golf courses in the area. Taunton Racecourse and Somerset County Cricket are also situated nearby.
