Location
Bridstow is a small village, around two miles from Ross-on-Wye's town centre. This offers an assortment of shops, independently-owned boutiques, a range of restaurants, welcoming pubs, various leisure facilities, plus a network of countryside and riverside walks.
The village has a lovely community; it contains a village hall - which acts as a headquarters for various groups such as the Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and the WI, and there are also various activities staged there, such as barn dances and whist evenings. There is also a primary school that carries a 'Good' Ofsted rating and this venue is used as a rehearsal space for a local women's choir, the Border Belles. In terms of secondary education, Ross offers John Kyrle High School, also rated as 'Good' by Ofsted but further private schooling options are found in the nearby towns of Hereford and Monmouth.
Valley View is set just off a quiet, country lane, but is a short drive (approximately one quarter of a mile) from the A49, the main road that connects Ross-on-Wye with Hereford. At Ross-on-Wye, motorists can join A40 and this east-bound route provides a direct route to Gloucester, Cheltenham and the Cotswolds. Meanwhile, the opposite direction leads towards the M4 at Newport. In addition, the M50 also begin in Ross-on-Wye and this leads to the M5, giving access to Birmingham and Bristol.

The home at a glance
As the name suggests, Valley View boasts an excellent view of the surrounding countryside. The main entrance leads into a spacious porch which has a built-in coat cupboard, complete with a lockable gun box. This porch leads into a substantial reception hall which gives visitors an immediate impression about the tremendous sense of space that the property exudes.
The sitting room is a lovely, sun-lit, dual aspect space which features an exposed beam and a marble fireplace as its primary focal points. Sliding doors lead through into the conservatory which is surrounded by an attractive outlook of the pristine garden. From here, a set of French doors lead out to this delightful outdoor space.
The centre-piece of the beautifully bright fitted kitchen/breakfast room is the Aga - a cooker which renowned for its durability and quality. It also features an integrated dishwasher, double oven and a ceramic hob with an extractor fan. There is a wealth of storage cupboards, as well as a built-in dresser and a breakfast bar gives an informal dining space.
There is also a pantry beyond the kitchen, giving even more storage space, as well as a utility room, which has space and plumbing for both a washing machine and tumble dryer, and space for a fridge/freezer.
A dining room offers a more formal dining space. Light cascades in to this room through three windows which overlook the garden. From this angle, there is a lovely rose-covered pergola over a flagstone path which leads to a fishpond.
Opposite the dining room, there is a study which is large enough to accommodate two sets of desks and chairs. If one required, this could be adopted into a playroom or another bedroom.
One of the existing double bedrooms is housed on the ground floor of the property and this has a built-in cupboard. Next door, there is a shower room which includes a walk-in shower, WC and basin – so this area of the house could ideally suit older or less mobile members of the family.
A staircase in the reception hall leads to the first floor of the property and its galleried landing. There are three double bedrooms found on this level of the property and the largest two each carry their own dressing rooms which are complete with built-in wardrobes. The master bedroom is one of these bedrooms and this expansive space also has its own balcony; a set of sliding glass doors lead out to this lovely area which looks over the lovely rear garden.
The master bedroom also has its own access into the family bathroom. This features a Jacuzzi bath, a walk-in shower, a basin, a WC and a multitude of built-in space.
The outside space
The garden, of over half an acre, gives a wonderfully tranquil area and stays perpetually sunny day long. A level lawn meanders around well-established herbaceous plants, shrubs and flowers – and there is a particularly lovely rose bed near to the split-level patio outside the main home. Cherry and apple trees grow around the expanse and there is a rotating summerhouse giving a lovely reading nook.
At the front of the home, there is an expansive driveway, as well as a detached double garage with electric doors. There is also a small patch of grass which has been planted with primroses, daffodils, tulips, and more. This area is left to grow wildly and offers a haven for the wildlife.
