Description

Bickleigh Bridge Cottage, a charming detached stone built cottage with glorious quintessential English country gardens, is not listed and dates we believe from the late 1700s. The current owners have enjoyed living there for over 40 years and although they have taken great care of it, the cottage is now in need of updating. The cottage offers a full length sitting room with two bay windows and an open fire in stone surround with hearth. The dining room also offers a stone fireplace with canopy and double doors through to the conservatory. The galley style kitchen is fitted with a range of units, a 4 ring hob, double oven, brand new dishwasher and fridge. The first floor comprises three bedrooms and a spacious bathroom.

Gardens and Grounds
Outside, The Gatehouse is a stone built outbuilding arranged over two floors. The ground floor offers storage and garage space whilst the first floor is a studio room which is in need of some attention.

The gardens at Bickleigh Bridge Cottage are an abundance of colour in the summer months and with the River Plym meandering its way through the gardens as a backdrop it really is quite spectacular. The gardens are largely laid to lawn with an array of plants and shrubs, a Clematis laden pergola, rose beds and a rockery garden. Beyond the gardens is an ancient bluebell wood and field. Along the river, mossy granite boulders adorn the banks. The property is sold with whatever interests the seller has in respect of fishing.

Location

Bickleigh Bridge Cottage is situated in beautiful ancient woodland on the banks of the River Plym. Dartmoor National Park is about 1 mile north and about 4 miles south is Plympton, an historic, vibrant and thriving suburb on the outskirts of Plymouth. A bustling community which offers an array of amenities including primary and secondary schools, supermarkets, independent shops and leisure centre with swimming pool. Nearby attractions include The Plym Valley cycle trail, Boringdon Hall Hotel and Spa, Boringdon Park Golf Club and Elfordleigh Golf and Country club. Dartmoor National Park offers glorious scenery for walking, climbing and horse-riding and the Tamar Valley, South Devon beaches and rugged Cornish coastlines are all within reach. Plymouth, a vibrant university city with a strong maritime heritage is about 5 miles away and enjoys the status of Regional Capital for Culture. Plymouth offers both Grammar and Independent schools, a mainline rail station (6 miles from Bickleigh Bridge Cottage) which offers a regular high speed service to London Paddington and an international ferry port linking France and Spain.
