The village is built around the course of the Afon Sychan which flows into the River Dyfi.

The county road/lane of Happy Valley/Cwm Maethlon is located in the small hamlet of Cwrt, which is an alternative route to the main coast road to Tywyn. Approximately 10 minutes’ drive along this narrow road/lane you will see a car park with sign for Llyn Barfog/Bearded Lake.

On the coastal path you’ll find some spectacular scenery along the Cardigan Bay Coastline. The Cambrian Coast Railway Line runs through Tywyn, Aberdyfi and Machynlleth with connections running along the West Coast to Pwllheli, also to Aberystwyth and also to the Midlands Area.
