Rhayader is a market town providing a wide range of amenities such as shops, doctor’s surgery, pharmacy, dentist, petrol station, hair dressers, cafes and pubs. There is also a local primary school and leisure centre. It offers a wide range of activities including mountain biking, lake and river fishing, football, rugby and other locally organized interests and events. A bus service between towns is also available. The area is known for its striking natural beauty with Rhayader being the gateway to the reservoirs and dams of the Elan Valley.
