This property can trace its origins back to 1790 with later extensions including the amazing octagonal turret with windows all the way round, providing panoramic views across the Solent to the mainland. The property nestles in extensive gardens and grounds including a large driveway for off road parking. It has delightful exterior period features including the veranda canopy and bay windows. Inside the dual aspect drawing room includes a magnificent embossed and patterned ceiling, wood flooring and a charming fireplace with a log burner as well as French doors to the veranda and wraparound terrace.

A similarly impressive ceiling can be found in the elegant dining room with its ornate fireplace and doors to the garden.

The kitchen/breakfast room includes modern units housing various appliances, a seating area and a bay with French doors to the terrace. There is also a utility room, a cloakroom and a hexagonal shaped gym.

On the other side of the property there is a secondary kitchen, double bedroom and shower room and two further rooms. Currently these are configured as a snug and office but could become part of an annex. A useful cellar provides plenty of storage.

Off the galleried landing is a cloakroom, a laundry room and five en suite bedrooms including the stunning master with its dressing room, fitted cupboards, trendy bathroom and balcony with steps to the garden. There are stairs to the second floor where you will find the impressive tower with windows offering panoramic views.

There is a patio for al fresco dining, sweeping lawns incorporating a pond and trees leading to woodland, a wildlife pond and a zipwire going towards the beach as well as a path to the Fort Victoria beach.

What the Owner says:
We have loved living in this gorgeous house and being able to revel in the history of the place and enjoy the location and the wonderful views. Over the years we have refurbished and enhanced the property with a new kitchen, main bedroom suite and bathroom. The lawn has been re-instated and we put in a treehouse and zipwire for the children. However, we feel it is now time to downsize and let another family enjoy this delightful seaside residence.

Norton and Freshwater are charming villages and the famous Needles rocks and Alum bay are not far away. A walk from the bottom of the garden through Fort Victoria country park, will take you to the beaches of Colwell and Totland bay. The Historic town of Yarmouth with its 16th century castle and large marina is just a ten-minute walk along the coast path from the house. Yarmouth has many excellent shops, pubs and restaurants as well as one of the main ferry services to the mainland.

    Broadband availability and predicted speed

Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:

    Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
    Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
    Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s

The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2

Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength

Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:

Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services

Energy Performance data and Internal floor area: obtained on September 12, 2012 from The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 or the Home Report if in relation to a residential property in Scotland.

Any supplementary data should not be relied upon as forming part of any property particulars and OnTheMarket cannot be held responsible for any incorrectness in this data. See here for more information.

    *Call rate information

Calls to 0843 numbers will be charged at 4p/min from BT landlines. Calls from other networks may vary, and calls from mobiles and outside the UK will be higher. Calls to local numbers beginning with 01, 02 and 03 numbers will incur standard geographic charges from landlines and mobiles.
