To see this house for the first time was such a lovely surprise! Believed to date to circa 1710...if only houses could talk...what stories could this one tell?! It is fairly typical for a property of this age to be built with local stone, which is limestone, giving it great curb appeal and there are a number of quaint and characteristic features that have been retained, too. In my opinion, it is a gem of a house and well worth looking at, in order to appreciate the size and quality of the accommodation available.

We start with a lovely front entranceway that opens into a 6 metre dining kitchen. To the left is a rather elegant living room that has a beamed ceiling, wood burner, and dual aspect windows. Back to the kitchen, and to the right, is a side entrance vestibule and guest cloakroom. For those who like to entertain or enjoy outdoor living, double doors from the kitchen area open onto a sun trap of a private side garden (check out the photos)

There is a central staircase that leads up to the first floor where there are 3 double bedrooms, which, like the rooms downstairs, retain some nice characteristic feature also. Useful storage cupboards and a rather swish bathroom complete the internal layout.

To the left-hand side of the property, there is a detached double garage which has an electric up-and-over-door, so no getting wet there then! The house abuts a cliff face immediately at the rear, which is roughly the height of the house. There is a narrow pathway and an intriguing store built into the rock face.
The garden to the right-hand side is simply to die for. It is fully enclosed, private, and is very sunny. A great suntrap and excellent for entertaining or for those who enjoy outdoor living.

Now for the amenities and a little history about the village. Well worth checking out this link... ... It makes for very interesting reading.
Of course, being situated where it is, there is great access to the motorway network and country roads to many areas of beauty and intriguing places to visit. Aberford truly does have a lovely village atmosphere to it.

So, there we have it. Not your everyday house, but ideal for those who really appreciate the size, quality, and charm that this detached house brings. But, don't take my word for it, please come and see for yourself.
