A rare and special opportunity for a fabulous period, stone house in Jesmond Dene with mature gardens extending to approx. 0.58 acres. 4 Jesmond Dene Terrace , circa 1850, is believed to be one of the oldest houses in Jesmond, and only one of four individual terrace houses on this secluded and private location, with superb views over the extensive garden to Jesmond Dene - the property is approached via a shared gravel driveway and gated and tree lined pedestrian walkway. The beautiful gardens extend down to the river, with access to Jesmond Dene and lovely woodland walks.
The current owners carried out a sympathetic 12 month renovation in 2015 - 2016, in keeping with the age and character of the period - there has been remedial and decorative works, all finished to a high standard throughout. The six bedroom impressive family home has well proportioned accommodation over three floors, with three bedrooms and a bathroom to both the first and second floors and good reception space. There is ample room to extend the property without encroaching onto the gardens, subject to the necessary permissions.
Original and period features include stained glass and leaded feature windows and doors, wood floors, wood panelling to the reception hallway and staircase, cast iron and tiled fireplaces, Art Deco styled plaster moulding and coving to the ceilings, cast iron radiators, and the fitting of replacement heritage style timber sash windows.
Vestibule - Reception hallway - Sitting room with superb elevated views over the gardens to the Dene, fireplace with copper insert and decorative ceiling moulding - Dining room with feature fireplace and French doors to the raised terrace - Kitchen/breakfast room with Belfast sink, plumbing for a dishwasher and washing machine, and space for a range cooker and fridge/freezer - First floor landing - Master bedroom with dual aspect windows and fireplace - Two further double bedrooms with fireplaces - Family bathroom/wc with freestanding bath and wc with high level cistern - Second floor - Three double bedrooms with dormer and Velux windows - Shower room/wc with exposed roof beams and Velux window
The property is approached via a shared gravel driveway, leading to a generous private area with parking for 6-8 cars. The beautiful gardens are predominantly lawned, with mature planting and specimen trees, Rhododendrons and Camellia - the garden leads down to the Dene with large trees giving both privacy and shelter. Within the garden is a large greenhouse with the original Victorian pipework retained and a gardeners wc.
HISTORY - Jesmond Dene Terrace is believed to once have been the site of Pigg Folly, originally two more modest properties to the middle (2&3) with 1 & 4 added circa 1850. 4 Jesmond Dene Terrace was remodelled in 1934, by the owners, Henry Waller and his sister Edna Swanson, where Art Deco influences were added, thought to be copied from The Paramount Cinema (1931) where the owner had links and enlisted master craftsmen to replicate the designs by Verity and Beverley. Professor George Neil Jenkins, a specialist in Oral Physiology, then lived in the house with his wife Olive Jenkins from 1965.

Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
