As fixer-uppers go, they don’t get more unique than this! This former nuclear bunker is on the market with a guide price of £400,000.
Crown Buildings – formerly known as Hope Cove Bunker – was built by the British Government in 1952 as part of the ROTOR programme, a huge and elaborate air defence radar system that enabled the UK to detect possible attacks by Soviet bombers.
The property – being sold by auction – offers a variety of potential uses, subject to the correct permissions. It offers 56 rooms, arranged over two floors including long corridors, large rooms and a kitchen.
Katie Semmens, spokesperson for Clive Emson Auctioneers, said: “We are very pleased to offer such a rare property. It’s difficult to say who would be the most likely buyer, it could be anyone from a military enthusiast to a landowner.”
Included in the sale is just over four acres of land in the Devon countryside – the property is around 3.5 miles from the glitzy town of Salcombe on the south coast.
