Description

Available for the first time in 34 years, Fairbrook is a most attractive family home, in a wonderful and tranquil setting, fully surrounded by its own gardens and land of approximately 9.3 acres, all in arguably the most picturesque village within the renowned Dartmoor National Park.

Very well presented and with an array of outbuildings, including stables, workshop, garage and barn, the property comprises a Grade II listed, 4 bedroomed detached house, partly enclosed by stone walls and positioned a short walk through its own land or via the village, to the parish church, village green & the well known Ring of Bells public house. There are local & riverside walks from the property to the nearby Bovey Castle Hotel & golf course as well as the open moorland.

Situation

The property sits on the southern outskirts of the sought after village of North Bovey and adjoins beautiful open countryside and private woodland with the lovely River Bovey and its stone bridges, all adding to this special place.

The village is of quintessentially English style with a variety of mainly thatched cottages round a village green. There are excellent paths, byways and riverside walks with the splendid Easdon Hill with its moorland readily accessible.

The village has a strong community with the superb dining pub, village hall and church providing social and meeting places. The annual traditional fate draws folk from afar and many other activities add to the vibrancy of the parish. Bovey Castle is within a mile and is available to day visitors to the hotel, spa and restaurants as well as providing memberships for its excellent facilities including 18 hole golf course, indoor swimming pool and tennis courts.

North Bovey is located on the eastern side of Dartmoor, just 1.5 miles from the country town of Moretonhampstead affording facilities including : stores, post office, butcher, green grocer , cafe, garages, restaurants and 3 public houses, modern sports centre, community swimming pool, church and primary school. Within a short drive there are the towns of Chagford and Bovey Tracey, with Exeter, Newton Abbot and Okehampton all within an 11 mile radius. From Exeter there are main line train services to Bristol (58 minutes) & London (2 hours and 7 minutes) and Exeter airport for international & regional flights. The beaches of both North and South Devon are about an hours drive away.

Directions

North Bovey is reached from south via the A38 near Bovey Tracey. From Exeter using the B3212 and coming from the North at Whiddon Down on the A30.

Upon reaching Moretonhampstead centre, take the turning opposite The Co-Op store, signposted North Bovey. Keep on this road for about 1.5 miles. Leave the village green to the left, the church to the right and continue down the hill and immediately before Fairbrook Bridge, turn right alongside the river. The lower gated entrance to Fairbrook Farm is now on the right after approximately 80 yards
