Mount Pleasant is a charming, Grade II Listed, thatched Devon longhouse dating back to the 17th Century, surrounded by National Trust land, set in a commanding, elevated position within the exquisite village of Ringmore with wonderful valley and coastal views. This unique and beautifully presented home is full of charm and character, surrounded by delightful cottage gardens with lawns, fruit trees and patios. ACCOMMODATION

The entrance hall/study reveals a versatile room, offering an additional area to rest after fabulous coastal walks, finished with slate flooring and fitted cupboards. To the left is the utility connected to a useful shower room with wc. The traditional farmhouse kitchen/breakfast room is an inviting and sociable space, fitted with an array of matching base and wall units, and an electric Aga (Economy 7). From the kitchen a stone spiral staircase rises to the first floor. This part of the cottage, along with the 2 bedrooms above, formed the original accommodation of Mount Pleasant, the adjoining dwelling was the shippen barn. In between the kitchen and reception is a 2nd entrance from the front of the cottage. The reception/dining room is a bright and spacious room, filled with light from 4 front aspect windows and a further door to the front garden, a wood-burner creates additional warmth and a focal feature, and a 2nd set of stairs leading to the first floor.

On the first floor all four bedrooms are well proportioned offering privacy and seclusion. Furthermore, there are two bathrooms, one offering stunning views towards Ayrmer cove. The upstairs accommodation can be accessed by two staircases on either side of the home.

THE GROUNDS

The house is on a very quiet, no-through road which leads down to the valley path to the beach. Secluded Ayrmer Cove is 15 minutes’ walk away and the location is wonderfully peaceful with an abundance of birds and wildlife. The gardens frame the home beautifully and have been thoughtfully landscaped featuring a large, paved patio offering a perfect area for entertaining with enchanting, uninterrupted views to Ayrmer Cove and beyond. The garden incorporates a detached studio and a stone outbuilding to the front of the property. Off street parking.

LOCATION

Ringmore is an old smuggling village situated at the head of a beautiful valley off the south-west coast path with picturesque views over National Trust land to Bigbury Bay and Ayrmer Cove. The cove is about 15 to 20 minutes’ walking distance from the village with its secluded beach and stunning cliff-top walks.

In the thriving village itself is an award-winning 13th-Century pub The Journey’s End Inn, local church and a wide range of community clubs and societies. At St Ann’s Chapel there is a Post Office and well-stocked general store which offers a delivery service to the church. Five miles away is the Georgian town of Modbury, and the towns of Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Totnes are nearby. The city of Plymouth is 17 miles to the north west.

The village is well-served for schools with twice-daily school buses to Ivybridge, Kingsbridge, Modbury and Aveton Gifford, and local buses to Stover School and Plymouth's private schools. Nearby Bigbury-on-Sea has a large, popular surfing beach with classes and a children’s surf club provided by Discovery Surf School, as well as trips in the famed ‘sea tractor’ to Burgh Island with its Art Deco hotel and The Pilchard Inn. Salcombe and Newton Ferrers provide wonderful sailing and there are golf courses at Bigbury and Thurlestone. Dartmoor National Park to the north provides magnificent countryside for walking, cycling and wild camping.
