Location
The subjects are astride the A712, in the Galloway Forest Park, 12 miles north of Newton Stewart 6 miles west of New Galloway. This is an area of outstanding natural beaty dominated by the Southern Uplands as well as some of richest forests in Scotland.

The area is also renowned for stargazing and in 2009 it was the first area in the world to be dedicated as a dark sky park.

The village of New Galloway offers a connection north towards Ayr and Glasgow via the A713/A77. The larger town of Newton Stewart offers an easy connection towards Stranraer and the ferry connections towards Northern Ireland. The county town of Dumfries lies 30 miles east offering easy access to the M74 and M6.

Directions
From Glasgow take the M77 then A77 to Ayr. A713 from Ayr to New Galloway before heading west on A712 to the subjects. From Dumfries, take the A75 west, before tasking the A712 from Crocketford.
