Description
Cooper and Tanner are delighted to bring to the market this impressive, detached Grade II residence locally known as The Old Hunting Lodge. This imposing property has an interesting and well documented history, and has been lovingly renovated and extended. The property retains a wealth of character and provides comfortable family accommodation throughout. The original residence is believed to have been built in 1850 by Sir Hugh Richard Hoare, then owner of the Stourhead Estate. A dairy was added later in the 19th century. In around 1946 ownership of the Stourhead Estate passed to the National Trust. The Trust carried out some alterations in the 1950s, and sold the home in the 1990s.
The accommodation comprises an entrance hall with tiled flooring, beams and stairs to the first floor, dining room, snug with wood-burner and door to garden, study with feature fireplace and shelving, main sitting room with vaulted ceiling, fitted kitchen / breakfast room with 4-oven Aga, utility room, rear courtyard. On the first floor in the main house are three bedrooms, en-suite, family bathroom. The master bedroom is accessed via the main sitting room staircase and has an en-suite shower room. The self-contained annexe has a separate entrance vestibule, kitchen area with space for units and appliances, a living room area, bedroom and shower room. This would be ideal for extended family or a possible Airbnb.
A track runs to the side of the house and gives access to the private driveway offering ample parking. The generous grounds are laid mainly to lawn and incorporate hedging, planting, shrubs and a gravel seating area with a pergola over. At the side is a grass verge area.

OnTheMarket may have applied supplementary data to this property listing, including:
Broadband availability and predicted speed
Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:
Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s
The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2
Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
Energy Performance data and Internal floor area: obtained on December 15, 2014 from The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 or the Home Report if in relation to a residential property in Scotland.
